Marianna wins competition for 5MBS Young Performer Award 2012

Marianna Grynchuk - Young Performer 2012

Pianist Marianna Grynchuk has won the Instrumental Section of the 5MBS Young Performer Awards, and was also named overall winner of the competition. The Instrumental Prize of $300 was donated by Size Music. The overall prize includes $500 from 5MBS plus a trip to Melbourne to compete in the National MBS Young Performer Finals in November. Lisa Cannizzaro, soprano, was named the winner of the Vocal Section, and the recipient of a $300 prize donated by ANATS*.

In the finals of the Young Performer of the Year competition, Marianna competed against two other musicians in the Instrumental Section. Four singers, including Lisa, competed in the Vocal Section.

The adjudicators of the competition, Norma Knight and Peter Webb OAM, praised the high standard of performance from all the finalists, and acknowledged that it was a very close contest.

The audience in St John’s Church were treated to an afternoon of first class performances from the contestants, in a varied program which included:
