First performance at the Carltheater, Vienna, on 1st February 1879.
Synopsis
Boccaccio, an object of scandal to his fellow citizens in 14th century Florence, arranges for his friends to cuckold two worthy citizens, while he makes love with Fiametta, foster-daughter of one of them. She is to marry the Prince of Palermo, but agrees, instead, to marry the man she really loves, the scandalous writer Boccaccio.
