L'étoile (The Star)
Opéra bouffe in three acts. 1877.
Libretto by Eugène Leterrier and Albert Vanloo. First performance by the Bouffes-Parisiens on 28th November 1877.
The light opera finds King Ouf cancelling a proposed execution when he discovers that his intended victim, Lazuli, shares the same star and will die on the same day, making it necessary to cosset him.
